Terms of Service
Effective date: October 19, 2026
1. What RecipeHub Is
RecipeHub is a personal recipe management application. It lets you save recipes, organize them into cookbooks, plan meals for the week with the people you live with, and generate shopping lists. RecipeHub is in beta (see section 3).
2. Accounts
Authentication is handled by Clerk. When you sign up, you create one account tied to your email address. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. One account per person — creating multiple accounts to circumvent limits is not permitted.
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
3. The Beta
RecipeHub is in beta, and during the beta it is free: nothing is charged, and we don’t ask for payment details.
- Plans during the beta. Every account starts on Free, with the limits the app shows (for example the number of recipes and imports). During the beta you can unlock Pro for the rest of the beta at no cost, and a family can try Family for the rest of the beta at no cost.
- No promise of availability. The beta is a test. RecipeHub may be unavailable at times, features may change or be removed, and things may go wrong.
- No backups yet. During the beta we don’t back up your data: not your recipes, plans and lists, and not your photos. We do our best to keep it safe, but a fault at our host or on our side could lose it for good. Please keep copies of what matters to you (you can export everything in Settings), and keep the paper of a recipe card you photograph.
- When the beta ends. Paid plans will follow. We will tell you by email and in the app at least 30 days before the beta ends, and what changes for you. Nothing is charged without your choice: if you don’t choose a paid plan, your account goes back to Free and nothing you made is deleted.
- Feedback. What you tell us about RecipeHub helps us improve it; we may use your feedback without owing you anything for it.
4. Your Content
You own the data you store in RecipeHub — your recipes, cookbooks, meal plans, and shopping lists. We do not claim ownership of your content.
RecipeHub is a personal organizer, not a publishing platform. When you import a recipe from the web, you are saving it for personal use. The original recipe content belongs to its original authors. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to store recipes you import.
The same goes for photos. The photos you send to a photo import can stay with the recipe as its original pages, which only you and your family see. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to store the photos you upload.
5. AI Features
RecipeHub uses AI (via Anthropic and OpenAI APIs) to read recipes from links, pasted text and photos, to translate recipes, and to place new ingredient names in the right aisle. This is a convenience tool for personal use. AI results may contain errors — ingredient amounts, cooking times, instructions or translations may not perfectly match the original recipe. Always verify important details, especially for allergens and dietary restrictions.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use RecipeHub for anything illegal or harmful
- Attempt to access other users’ data or interfere with the service
- Scrape, crawl, or overload the API beyond normal personal use
- Redistribute recipe content extracted via RecipeHub at scale
7. Reporting Content and Moderation
RecipeHub stores what you put in it, so the EU’s Digital Services Act applies to us.
- Point of contact. Authorities, users and anyone else can reach us about content and the Digital Services Act at report@recipehub.cc, in English or Dutch. It is our single point of contact for both authorities and users.
- Reporting illegal content. Anyone can report content stored in RecipeHub that they believe is illegal, such as a photo that infringes someone’s copyright. A report needs the link to the recipe or page where the content shows, why you believe it is illegal, your name and email address, and a statement that you believe in good faith that what your report says is accurate and complete. We confirm that we received it, handle it carefully, objectively and without undue delay, and tell you what we decided and how you can contest it.
- How we moderate. We don’t screen what you store, and we use no automated tools to find or judge content: a person reads every report. We act on reports and on breaches of section 6. When content is illegal or breaks these terms, we may remove it (a photo with every copy of it, which we find by a fingerprint of its content), remove the recipe it belongs to, or, for serious or repeated abuse, suspend or close the account (section 8).
- If we act on your content. We tell you what we removed or restricted and why: the facts, the law or the part of these terms it breaks, and whether we acted on a report. To contest it, reply to our message and we look at it again; you can also go to court, and where the Digital Services Act gives you the right, to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body.
8. Termination
You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. If we terminate your account, we will make a reasonable effort to let you export your data first, unless the termination is due to abuse.
9. Limitation of Liability
RecipeHub is provided “as is” without warranty. We do our best to keep the service running and your data safe, but we are not liable for data loss, service interruptions, or damages arising from your use of RecipeHub. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of RecipeHub after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
